MYC is looking to hire PRO

Mendota Yacht Club is looking for a dedicated Principle Race Officer (PRO) to setup and run sailing races this summer. 

 

PRO must provide at least 1 assistant to assist with recording scores and course setup for each event.

 

Time commitments would include:
Twice weekly events which take place every Wednesday evening beginning May 28th through August 27th (with exception of August 13th) with a scheduled race start time of 6:30pm, and Sunday morning beginning June 1st through August 31st (with the exception of August 17th) with a scheduled race start time of 10:00 AM.  The race team would be required to leave the pier (Maple Bluff Marina next to Warner Beach and boat ramp) 1.5 hours before the scheduled race to have adequate time to set the course and prepare the event and typically would be complete approximately 2 to 3 hours after the scheduled race time depending on wind and course set.

 

Duties would include:

Setting a proper course per MYC sailing standards

Run the races for multiple fleets, recording time for keelboats

Operate the MYC motorboat

Keep score and turn scores into the official scorer

Keep the MYC motorboat maintenance log up to date

Other duties pertinent to the position

 

Senior members of MYC will provide training, coaching and advice throughout the season as needed and will provide all supplies and equipment required.

 

Salary will be based on individual event success with a flat fee of $100.00 paid to the team for completed, successful events, and $75.00 paid to the team for events abandoned or cancelled due to conditions.  There are 12 Wed races scheduled and 13 Sunday races scheduled.  Spring series events scheduled for May 17, 18 and 24, 25 (all at 10am) can be used as training events and would be paid at ½ normal fees.
