Yes, even though iceboating season officially kicks off this weekend on Lake Kegonsa with what Donny Anderson has described as one of the fastest sheets of ice he's seen in a long time, there are a few bits of MYC business to attend to.
First this from Ian Coxhead of Village Idiots II:
The entire MYC fleet makes intensive use of the UW Mendota Weather Buoy, which is moored every season over the deepest part of Lake Mendota, and conveniently close to the MYC race area. The buoy is maintained by the UW-Madison Center for Limnology. As a frequent user of the buoy data, I’d like to point out to MYC members that they can make a contribution in support of its operation at pretty much any time of day or night. Just go HERE to make a gift, and in the “gift note" box indicate that your contribution is in support of the Lake Mendota Buoy operations. You could also say that you're a MYC member who appreciates this great resource.

Lake Mendota History Talk
Next Thursday, December 11, Don Sanford will be the featured speaker at Historic Madison's annual meeting. Their annual meeting begins at 6:30 pm. Don's talk is scheduled to start around 7:00 pm. Location is in the Red Gym, 716 Langdon Street. The event is open to HMI members, guests and the public. I will attempt to attach a copy of the flyer to this message. Wish me luck. If it's not here or you can't open it, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org and I'll send it to you.
